Teddy bear Christmas

Evening everybody :)

Seems like everyone is sick, I have a bad sore throat and am really achey, but that's as good an excuse as any to stay in my PJs all day I think. I sat and watched Disney movies for most of the day, so that was fun :)

I made this card last night using one of my new LOTV stamps :) I'm fairly happy with how it turned out I think :) I like that it's pretty much suitable for everyone - men, women or kids :)

The image as I said above is from Lili of the Valley, and the papers and sentiment are also LOTV, the charm and wooden snowflakes came from Bunny Zoe's, the twine and buttons from Ribbon Girl, the gold pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts and the hessian came from my local craft store.

A closeup of the image, coloured with Promarkers, there's Stickles on there too, and I used some puffy stuff on the falling snow.

A closeup of the sentiment, I coloured the paper with tea.

The little charm :)

A closeup of the snowflake, button and bow. I inked the snowflake up first.

90th birthday card

Evening all :)

I had a lovely surprise last night, my boyfriend came home for the weekend, he wasn't supposed to be home til next week some time, so I'm happy :) We watched lots of DVDs and had Scraps the cat sitting with us too, although she's not a big fan of males at all, but she settled after a while and allowed Anthony to pet her :)

Anyway, the last post I made was for a card that I'd made as part of a selection for my friend to choose her favourite from for her gran's 90th birthday, and this is the one she chose in the end :) her gran loves baking apple pies, so one of the things she suggested for a card was apple pie, so I found this image from Meljen's Designs and this is what I came up with :)

The image as I mentioned above is Meljen's Designs, I printed the sentiment out myself (this one didn't go on the final card, one saying Happy 90th birthday gran went on instead :P) the ribbon, gems and flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, the swirls are a Marianne D die and the papers are Papermania.

A closeup of the image, coloured with Promarkers, I put Glossy Accents on the apples and Stickles on the ribbon and steam.

My flowers, also edged with Stickles.

Birthday card

Evening all :)

My friend Catherine asked me if I'd make a card for her Gran's 90th birthday, so I made a few up for her to choose from; this is one of them - not the one she picked though :) I spent a lovely hour at her house this afternoon drinking tea, chatting and playing with her adorable Alaskan Malamute puppy Sansa, sooo cute!

Anyway, here's the card :) I'm happy with how it turned out!

The image is one I just bought from Lili of the Valley, I really enjoyed colouring her in! The swirl is a Cheery Lynn one, the pearls are from Ribbon Girl, the ribbon, gems and flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the charm is from my stash. The papers are from the Nitwits/LOTV pad Promises - I love this pad! The sentiment I printed off the computer and the doily is from stash too.

A closeup of this gorgeous girly, coloured with Promarkers and I put Glossy Accents and Stickles on there too.

A closeup of my flowers, all Stickled up too :)

Bow and flower charm :)

I made a box for it too! I've not made many boxes before at all, only one or two, but with all the flowers on this, I really had to. I figured out some measurements for myself and it worked pretty well, so I'm happy!

I'll be putting up the other cards I made for Cat to choose from in due course, this being the first :)

MMCS DT Card - hearts and flowers

Evening all :)

I had a lovely day today, I took my wonderful mum to the cinema - we saw Anna Karenina. It's really good! The presentation of it is a little strange - it's done in a sort of theatrical way, it mimics being at the theatre with stage changes and whatnot, but it's done really well. Keira Knightley was amazing in it - she is so talented. Not one of my favourite actresses personally (possibly due to being envious of how ridiculously good-looking she is! haha), but she did a fantastic job in this. Well worth the watch, and Mum enjoyed it too.

Anyway, over at MMCS Challenge Blog today, we have the theme of

Hearts and Flowers

and we're sponsored by the always wonderful

who are providing our lucky winner with 7 digis of the winner's choice from their store.

So here's the card I made for it, I'm mad into monochrome at the minute for some reason, and I've had a few wedding cards to make lately and I think B&W works so well for them.

The image and sentiment are from LOTV, the flowers and gems are from Wild Orchid Crafts, the ribbon I got from my local sewing shop, the swirl is a Marianne D flourish, the papers are Papermania and the heart charm is from Ribbon Girl.

A closeup of the image, coloured with Promarkers and Stickled up. Stardust was out of stock when I was making my order and I ordered a different one that I don't like as much :(

So here's my card, made using a Milk Coffee image.

I love this Milk Coffee image! So much fun to work with :D The birdcage is a Tim Holtz diecut that I was sent in a candy from the wonderful Brenda of Floral Fantasies, inked and Glossy Accented all over, the papers are from a We Are Memory Keepers pack, the sentiment is Lili of the Valley, the flourish is a Cheery Lynn diecut, the fabulous charm is from Ribbon Girl, the gems are from Wild Orchid Crafts (but got squished in my Grand Calibur lol) and the rest is from stash.

A closeup of the image, smooshed gems and all! Coloured with Promarkers and I put Stickles on there too.

My sparkly flourish :)

Harry Potter Wall Hanging - looong post :P

Evening all :)

I'm fairly broke at the moment (mainly due to my addictive craft shopping habit :-/) and it was my friend Saoirse's birthday this week, so I decided to make her a gift instead. I really like how it turned out, and it's suitable for both genders too - I may be making more of these as presents for other friends who would appreciate this :)

We're both Harry Potter nuts, completely obsessed, so with the help of the adorably cute Bugaboo's Har Repotter image range and a couple of extras, I decided to make her a Harry Potter wall hanging with quotes from the books. She cried when I gave it to her, so I think she liked it :) The books are really special to both of us, so it was fun but very, very emotional making this. My best friend since birth, Tara, was killed in a terrorist attack the day the sixth book in the series - Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - was released, and I can honestly say if it wasn't for these books, I wouldn't have survived the heartbreak. I was so engrossed in reading the book that day, that I didn't hear the entire room I was in talking about the tragedy, so thanks again to Harry Potter, my parents were able to get me home, sit me down and tell me themselves... So for so many reasons, I'm thankful to Harry Potter and the magic that got me through the darkest days of my life. I can't believe it's been over seven years since that day, it still seems like yesterday... So here it is, I hope you like it. Picture-heavy post, sorry if it's too long for you guys - and Harry Potter mad!

So here's the hanging as it looks in its entirety, it's over a metre long. I got a length of 1" black ribbon, cut out 9 scalloped circles, and got to work. It took soooo long to make this!!! All the quotes I typed out and printed off in as magical a font I could find haha :) I tried to put the quotes with characters that either said them, or that they applied to or suited. As I said above, most of the images are from Bugaboo and I coloured them with Promarkers and added copious amounts of Stickles and Glossy Accents.

For the top, I looped some ribbon over and glued it at the back so it'll hang up. I put another circle over the ribbon on the back of each segment to reinforce it. I put the bow on so it'll look pretty! The crest I printed off the internet, the swirl is Marianne Designs and the pearls are from Ribbon Girl.

This is my ultimate favourite quote from the books...pretty much should just be quoted ad nauseum to anyone who carries stigma against anyone with mental health issues until they realise that they exist and even though may have no obvious phsyical symptoms, are still real. Red and gold for Gryffindor - my house on Pottermore :) the gems are from Wild Orchid Crafts, the stars from my stash.

The paper is from Papermania capsule collection.

The jute is from Ribbon Girl, the papers are from a Papermania pack.

I got the sparkly paper in a local craft shop and embossed it with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

I got the wooden stars in my local bookshop. The black jute is from Ribbon Girl.

The buttons and string are from Ribbon Girl. The flowery paper I debossed using an Impressability sheet and inked over then with brown ink.

I punched the butterflies with a MS punch. The silver paper is from stash, the green from a Papermania capsule pack. Gems from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I printed everything off the computer on this one, and the gems are Wild Orchid Crafts.

And the whole way through making this post, Scraps the cat has been lying on the laptop, gnawing on, treading her claws in and licking my arm for attention. Awwwww.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

Buttons

Evening all

I just did this whole blogpost, but did it on the wrong blog so had to delete it and start again :( Arg!

Anyway. Our challenge this week over at MMCS Challenge Blog is

Buttons

and our sponsor for this challenge is

and they're offering the winner a $10 voucher to their lovely store.

Here in Ireland, at about 15 years old, we sit a set of exams called the Junior Certificate and all the kids got their results today, so I was asked for a few congrats cards, this being one of them, ordered by my neighbour for a relative that did really very well in his exams.

This sweet image is from LOTV, the buttons, jute and string are from Ribbon Girl, I printed the sentiment off myself and the papers are from Glitz.

A closeup of the image, coloured with Promarkers, edged with tea and I put Glossy Accents on the boat. Isn't he adorable?!

Mooooo

Evening all :)

It was my wonderful Daddy's 60th birthday recently, so of course I had to make a whole rake of cards for everyone to give him! But it was great being able to do a card for each of his hobbies and interests hehe - I made a hunting card, a DIY card, a vintage tractor card, an 'old fart' card, a vintage aeroplane card and this one is in tribute to him being a dairy farmer! Retired now, but we all grew up with farming as part of our lives - I love cows! I miss having them around, and I'm sorry for my nieces who don't have the same proximity to farm life that we did growing up, being surrounded by nature and animals makes for a wonderful childhood. My neighbour gave this one to him :)

The image is a digi from Whimsy Stamps, the flourish is a cheery lynn die, the jute is from Ribbon Girl, the gems from Wild Orchid Crafts and the embossing was done with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The sentiment and number were printed on the computer.

A closeup of this adorable image! I coloured her with Promarkers and put some Stickles on the bee trail and Glossy Accents on her udder!

A closeup of the flourish and sentiment.

Monochrome wedding card

Evening again :)

My beloved cat Scraps has perfect timing, she decided she wanted some real attention just after I'd finished this, so she came and snuggled up on my lap and we watched Pirates of the Caribbean together hehe :P

Here's the card I made, my parents are going to a wedding next week, so I'm on a wedding card buzz now, I've made another two as well that I'll put up another day. This first one is monochrome but with pink as well. I think I like how it turned out, it's not too bad anyway.

The image and sentiment are from Lili of the Valley, the ribbon, flowers and gems are from Wild Orchid Crafts, the lace and charm are from Ribbon Girl, the papers are from a Papermania capsule collection pack, the leaves are a MS punch and I made the pins myself.

A closeup of the image, coloured with Promarkers and the usual dose of Stickles, not very clear in the pic though.

A closeup of the charm, ribbon and my homemade pins.

A closeup of my flowers, covered with Stickles too.

My sentiment, from the Love Sentiments sentiment sheet.

Baby boy

Evening all :)

I'm having a lovely evening in with my cat Scraps.

She's an outside cat but loves coming in, and she tried to jump in a closed window this evening, so that didn't work too well. I took pity on her then and brought her in through the door :P She's just the sweetest cat ever; a short few months ago, she was too frightened of people to even come in the house. As regular readers of my blog know, she's a rescue cat... She and her sister were thrown out the window of a moving car, so our neighbour who saw it happening brought Scraps to us, and her sister Zero found her way to her sister in her own time. And from day one poor Scraps was frightened all the time, but we've coaxed her and fed her and treated her well, and now, she not only comes in the house, she settles, and over the last couple of weeks, she's started to settle on our laps as well :) She's the most loyal little creature too - anyone who says cats aren't loyal clearly has never had one! She won't let anyone touch her except my sister and I, not even our parents who live here too! I really can't comprehend how anyone could possibly treat any kind of animal the way our beloved Scraps was treated before we got her. It makes my blood boil.

Anyway. My neighbour and best customer requested a baby card for her relative in Canada who just had a little boy. I had an idea in my head straight away, so this is what I made :) I wanted it to be nice and flat as it's going in the post, so I kept the embellies to a minimum.

The image and top sentiment are LOTV, the lace and velvet ribbon are from Ribbon Girl, the gems are from Wild Orchid Crafts, the border is the MS Doily punch, the bottom sentiment I printed off on the computer, the bottom paper is Forever Friends and the top one is Nitwits. The doily is from my stash.

A closeup of this sweet image. It's great for both birth and christening cards for both genders, I love it's versatility. I coloured it with Promarkers and I put Stickles on the hearts and dots and Glossy Accents on the leaves.

The LOTV sentiment, so sweet.
